IPv6 overview

Ive been trying to look up IPv6 lately. Most of the information I have found is related to IPv4 training and certifications such as the Cisco CCNA or Comptia network + and generally consist of advice like “IPv6 has more addresses than IPv4 because it’s a hexadecimal 128 bit address scheme rather than a 32 bit scheme – but it’s years away so don’t worry about it..” Well I don’t think it’s that far away and even if it is I’d like to know more. My interest was certainly piqued lately when I started getting messags from Vista that a device had problems – when I opened the device manager i found that the ISATAP adapter was having problems – my first thought was “WTF is an ISATAP adapter?”  some googling led me to discover that its a technology implemented by Microsoft to ease the IPv4 to IPv6 migration.
